Dr Guillermo Zaragoza is a senior researcher in CIEMAT (Centre for Energy, Environment and Technology Research), working in the Solar Desalination R&D unit of Plataforma Solar de Almería, Spain. His main research is focused on the application of solar energy to desalination, both for small-scale decentralized applications and the coupling of desalination with concentrated solar power production. Guillermo Zaragoza has a PhD in Physics (University of Granada, 1996), has held academic positions at the University of Oxford (1997-1998) and the Spanish Research Council (1999-2000), and at the greenhouse research facility of Cajamar Foundation (2001-2008). He has a long academic record (>85 papers, 3 books and 8 book chapters) and extensive experience in international R&D projects (>40), teaches in a master course on Solar Energy at the University of Almería and in international courses on Solar Desalination organized by the European Desalination Society, of which he is a board director. He is coordinating the Renewable Energy Desalination Action Group of the European Innovation Partnership on Water of the European Commission, as well as the Working Group on the same subject at the Water Europe Platform.

Evaluation Panel

The Evaluation Panel members have been carefully chosen for their knowledge and experience. Each member scores and comments on the submissions assigned to them. Each valid submission will receive five sets of reviews that have been statistically normalized. Informed by the resulting ranking of submissions with consideration to diversity of solutions, up to five Finalists will be named.
